When was the last time you analyzed which aspects of your life are working well and whether any factor suggests a need for change? For me, this question became relevant this fall. I listed the facts about my current professional situation—what’s going well and what could be improved. Why do I work at Teamit? The result was a long list of reasons to stay and a clearly shorter list of things that might improve by chasing new opportunities.
I encourage you, dear reader, to regularly conduct this same exercise for yourself. It might turn out that some critical aspects of your life have shifted, leading you to seriously consider even significant changes. Even if you decide not to change anything, you might conclude that your current situation is so good that no changes are needed. That’s a valuable and liberating realization in itself—there’s nothing to lose. For me, the outcome was precisely that: I have no reason to make any changes. Things are good as they are.
My list included many positive experiences of working at Teamit, and I want to share two major themes from that list in this blog: Teamit enables success and rewards it and Teamit’s genuine culture.
I chose these themes because they matter the most to me personally. Teamit has much more to offer, and we’re continually making improvements. However, I feel that these two areas set Teamit apart from others. While I admit that my perspective may not be entirely impartial—after all, “you sing the songs of the one whose bread you eat”—I assure you that everything I’ve written here reflects honest, unvarnished experiences of my time at Teamit. I would still sing the same songs even if I were eating someone else’s bread in the future.
Teamit Enables Success and Rewards It
The first thing that comes to mind is how Teamit acts as a platform for its consultants to achieve their professional goals, develop their skills, and repeatedly prove their expertise. Teamit’s platform is built on several key elements: freedom, responsibility, an encouraging atmosphere, incentives, transparency, a challenge-driven mindset, and skill development.
Freedom and Responsibility
At Teamit, we understand that each of us consultants is a professional in our field. We enjoy the freedom to steer Teamit’s services in the direction we believe is best while solving a wide range of challenges for our clients. This may sound self-centered, but it’s worth stating: Since Teamit’s consultants are all senior-level specialists, this model works for us—it’s rewarding and motivating. We’re encouraged to take on new challenges because there’s an open trust in our abilities. And if there’s ever a gap in our skill set, the tools to bridge that gap are readily available. Through our learning platform, I have access to university-level courses on virtually any topic, ensuring that I can always expand my expertise when needed.
Opportunities
If I wanted to work abroad, I could do so as a Teamit expert. Some of my colleagues have already taken advantage of this and work from outside Finland. If I wanted to change my compensation model, that would be possible. If I needed to improve my work ergonomics, it could be arranged. Whether it’s new projects, clients, or focusing on internal business development at Teamit, all these options are available. If I wanted to branch out into a different type of expert role, that too would be supported. In short, Teamit offers the opportunities of multiple workplaces on a single plate.
Visibility for Expertise
Teamit inherently understands that when we experts get opportunities to shine, the entire company benefits—and most importantly, our clients’ satisfaction soars. For example, you’re reading this blog because Teamit actively encourages us to share our expertise and experiences. Writing is something I enjoy anyway, but this blog serves as a great showcase for an everyday product designer like me to increase visibility and leave a lasting impression. It’s an added bonus that Teamit’s blog reaches precisely the audience I want to connect with: current and future clients and colleagues. Perhaps someday, when we talk, you’ll recall something you read here? Or you might find a direct connection between a blog post and a challenge you’re facing, leading us to work together to solve it.
Recognition and Rewards
Many companies try to attract experts without including financial incentives in their promises. Often, unrelated perks—like free coffee or office amenities—are highlighted instead. When negotiations are almost complete, salary is awkwardly brought up as an afterthought. In reality, people work to earn a living, and Teamit openly rewards success, ideas, proactivity, and company achievements with competitive financial incentives. Our reward models are transparent, fair, and competitive—they’re not hidden in the fine print of contracts or casually mentioned as an afterthought. Only after that comes the question of whether the office should have beanbags, a pool table, and a PS5 (which, by the way, we have).
Teamit’s Genuine Culture
We all have different life situations and varying needs. Teamit adapts to each individual’s preferences without unnecessary bureaucracy, and every issue can be quickly resolved by talking to a real person.
My life situation changed drastically two years ago when my house contractor went bankrupt, forcing me to rethink how to finance the rest of my construction project. This also meant fitting house-building into evenings and weekends. With just one phone call, I had adjusted my compensation model to match my new circumstances and addressed several other issues. Even smaller matters, like work tools, are handled exactly as I need them—quickly and without red tape. I’ve worked at large companies both during and after my studies, and I couldn’t imagine things being handled this easily there.
This responsiveness gives me confidence that as my life evolves, my employer will have both the willingness and ability to take care of practical matters seamlessly. On top of that, Teamit offers competitive benefits that support my health and well-being.
What I also value is the sense of community at Teamit. We regularly spend time together, from formal office sessions to informal board game nights and celebrations. If you’re into board games, you’ll find fellow players here. This is something that doesn’t happen at many consulting firms, where experts are scattered and may barely know their employer’s other employees.
I’ve experienced other consulting firms where responsibilities for contract details, work tools, and ergonomics were unclear—leading to frustrating disputes about whether my direct employer or the client company was responsible. Both parties often tried to pass the responsibility to the other. At Teamit, this would never happen. Here, it’s understood that an expert remains loyal to the party that takes good care of them.
Teamit’s combination of flexibility, responsiveness, and accountability creates a strong foundation. That’s why I work at Teamit.
